2014: 150th Anniversary of the Reading Rooms

In 2014 the Trustees organised a special exhibition to mark the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Reading Rooms in 1864. Pupils from four Billericay schools participated - Buttsbury, Quilters, St John's and St Peter's. They researched and documented different aspects of life in Billericay in the mid-Victorian era. The exhibition was officially opened by Billericay's MP, John Baron and Town Crier, Jim Shrubb.  The Trustees and many other visitors wore period dress.
